Pauline Palermo Obituary

Pauline Theresa Palermo, 86 of Orange, New Jersey, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 20, 2015 at her home after a long illness. She was born on November 18, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Fannie Mae Palermo.

Pauline Palermo was a resident of Orange, NJ for over 40 years and was an avid activist involved in many causes. She loved people and traveled the world just to meet people of different races and nationalities. Pauline loved walking around her neighborhood meeting old friends and new.

During one of her meet and greets (10 years ago ) Pauline met Kelvin Prather and Sukina Williams- Prather whom she adopted as her children and they loving and affectionately adopted her as their mother and have been taking care of her since the first time they met ten years ago up until the day she died.

Pauline donated her time and money to the St. Jude Hospital and St. Josephs Indian School. She was a great hero and champion for animals and was a member of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Humane Society of the United States. She spent her life loving her family, friends, community, and animals.

Pauline was an active member of St. John Church of Orange, NJ that she attended until her death.

Pauline wore many hats in her life. In her younger days she was an actress and a singer. She enjoyed performing, she was in many plays such as, Wonderful Town, Goodnight Irene , The Tender Trap and Anything Goes. She was also a part of a singing group called the Bell Aires and they won the amateur finals on the Embassy Stage. Pauline sung for weddings, plays and the Caster Pageant for St. Johns Church. She had many talents.

Pauline was a successful business owner of a shop called Yarn N Things in Orange, New Jersey for many years until she retired. She enjoyed teaching people how to sew, knit, and crochet, she always kept busy. Pauline was a member of the YMCA and she had a love for reading. She loved raising show dogs.

Pauline leaves to cherish her memory, her adopted son Kelvin Prather, and daughter Sukina Williams - Prather who will miss her dearly.

Pauline was predeceased by her father Frank Palermo, her mother Fannie Mae Palermo, her brothers Rocky, Dominick and Vincent Marty Palermo.

Pauline we will truly miss you and always cherish your memory. Take your rest, we love you, but God loves you best. Remembering you telling us you wanted to be up and walking by spring, God heard your prayers and made it so. Keep on walking.
