Loreen Maria Griffith Remy

With profound sadness and humble embrace, we announce the passing of Loreen Maria Griffith Remy, our loving and devoted mother, wife, and friend to all whose lives she touched, on September 9, 2023.

Maria left us with fortitude, sharing her last moments with her family and close friends. She was 57 years young, born on July 19,1966 in Marigot, the Commonwealth of Dominica, a daughter of Veronique Pierre and Radford Griffith. Maria, affectionately known as Valda, migrated to Marie-Galent, French Caribbean Islands at the age of 8 where she attended l’ecole de file (school for girls) in Grand-Boug, Marie-Galante in 1974. Maria worked as a childcare-worker for over 3 decades. In 1987, she found love with Joseph Remy and got married.

For those who knew Maria (Valda), she was a beautiful woman, courageous soul, loving mother, and wife. Maria was a stellar interior designer and fashionista. Her passions were to chef it up, aspire to travel the world, care for her family, offer hospitality to many and keep her faith. Maria was a survivor of life and now she returns home to rest in peace.

Maria leaves to cherish her memory, her three children, Troy Remy, Josiah Remy, and Nathalie Remy. Grandchildren Troy Isaiah Remy, Josiah Jr. Remy, and husband, Joseph Remy. Daughters’ in-law Rachel Remy, Danaries Puello and Shauntée Henry. Her nieces, Sarah Haines, Injay Louis-Jean Jusmé, brother in-law Ronald Remy. Her sisters Eldica Bedminster, Emilea, Annabella, and brothers Ken and Tony Télémaque. To all her nieces, nephews, in-laws, and family overseas.
