James Edward Turner Jr. was born on November 25, 1949 in Chipley Florida and departed this life on February 2, 2020. He was the son of the late Edward Lee Turner and Carrie Frances Turner. James attended school for a short period in Panama City, Florida. His family relocated Newark, N. J. in 1960. He graduated from South 10 th Street and then South Side High in 1968. He attended Essex County College before joining the United States Air Force in 1969. He served in Vietnam and Thailand as a Mechanic and Fire Fighter. James received an Honorable Discharge in April of 1975 as a Staff Sgt. James retired after 25 years of working for NYC Transit as a conductor. In 2014 James relocated to Las Vegas NV. He enjoyed traveling , Horse Racing and Fine Restaurants. He tutored many students and donated too many charities.
He leaves to cherish his memories one brother Aqeel Mateen (Penny Zarifah) of South Orange, N.J. ,two sisters Dianne Dieumercy (Louis) of Las Vegas NV., and Linda Turner of East Orange, N. J. and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. James was preceded in death by his brother Charles Dean Turner, and nephew Michael Charles Turner.
