Farid Aziz Marzuq
Farid Aziz Marzuq, son of the late Johnny Carthern and Jeanette Reid was born September 3, 1955, at Martland Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey. Farid attended Queen of Angels Catholic School and continued his studies at Vailsburg High School where he played sports.
Having embraced Al-Islam as a young man in his thirties, Farid found great joy in reading the Holy Quran and Quranic recitation. He always believed that Allah (SWT) would provide for him and his loved ones.
Farid was the father of Naimah and Sade. He would never hesitate to tell everyone that his children were his greatest accomplishment. He loved them both deeply. Farid was an extremely loving man, with a sly smile and a huge heart. He was always willing to show up for others and help them in time of need. Loyal and loving Farid never allowed the personal challenges he faced to change how he loved on people.
He loved to shout out “Where they do that at?!” in conversations and always displayed his humor. Those who knew him well know that Farid lived by the notion that if you know the nature of a thing, you can control it.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughters Naimah Taherra Tucker and Sade Marzuq; brothers Yusef and Tony Carthern; sisters Janet D. Tucker and Brenda Williams; and Ex-wife Fatima Morgan. He also leaves nephews Jameel, Brandon, and Corey Truesdale; niece Tyeesha Tucker; his best friend of 52 years Willie “Chillie Willie” Franklin and a host of additional family and friends. Farid Aziz Marzuq will be remembered fondly by many and live on eternally in the hearts of all who loved him.
