Waymon Thomas was born on August 1, 1953 In Durham North Carolina to Evelyn Lee Thomas and Jake Thomas.
He was predeceased by his brother Patrick Banard Thomas and his father Jake Thomas.
Waymon accepted Islam on August 9, 2022
Waymon lived in Camden, South Carolina until the age of 15 before moving to Elizabeth NJ in 1968. Waymon attended Jefferson High School in Elizabeth NJ. Shortly after he attended Job Corp in the State of Utah where he received his GED and received certifications in plumbing, electrical and.General Contractor. He also received he Black Seal License and Journey Man’s Book .
Waymon returned back to Elizabeth NJ where he began his journey in doing what he loved using his construction skills. In 1973 he worked for Newark International Airport as a Construction Worker, In 1974 University Hospital ( College Hospital) worked as a Construction Worker. In 1975-1981 he worked for Essex County College as a Construction worker/ In 1981 Bill’s Lock and Safe as a Lock Maintenance and also worked with Glick Real Estate as Maintenance. Waymon also took his skills working as a personal Contractor up until he became ill. .
Waymon worked over 50 years as a General Contractor construction was his passion. He was the go to guy in his town of Elizabeth NJ. Waymon was a laid back guy who enjoyed going to Wildwood NJ enjoying the beach. Loved to bbq in the backyard with family and friends. Waymon had friends all over the globe. He was a kind, gentle person who would help anyone. He loved to teach people things he knew. He would help anyone. Waymon and his mother had a very special bond between the two of them that he held dear to his heart.Waymon took great joy in taking care of his mother. She was his main concern even when he wasn’t feeling his best. Waymon loved his children, his grandson Rashadik whom he had the most fun with. He adored his grandson Brix and was looking forward to meeting the newest addition soon Koa. Waymon was a protector to all of his younger siblings whom he always looked after.. Waymon was a person who cared for many and many friends will argue he was their best friend. Because he made people feel welcomed and loved.
Waymon leaves behind his family His mother Evelyn Lee Thomas. His one daughter Tonja Johnson (son in-law Yusuf Shabazz Williams). His two sons Waymon Jake Thomas Jr, and Michael Thomas. His three brothers Abdul Hassan Muhammad, Stanley Thomas Victor Thomas. His two sisters Rita Street (brother in-law Marvin Street), Faith Thomas. His grandson Rashadik Johnson, and great grandson Brix Johnson and soon to be addition Koa.. Waymon had a host of relatives, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
