Thomas Munta Fain

November 12, 1952 — February 18, 2021

East Orange, NJ

Thomas "Munta" Fain was born on November 12, 1952 to Thomas E. Fain Jr. and Doris Fain in Orange, NJ. On Thursday, February 18, 2021, Thomas was called to rest after succumbing to his short fight with Covid-19 at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, NJ.

Thomas attended East Orange High School. He was employed with The Little Preschool for 35 years. At the school, he served on the Board of Trustees for over 20 years. Thomas never missed a day of work except for scheduled vacation or personal time off. The children loved him. He gave them his support, time, and attention. He even played Santa during annual Christmas parties and passed out gifts to children.

To so many, Thomas was faithful, loyal, and dependable. He was a devoted friend, co-worker, advocate, father, and grandfather. He was also just as stubborn as he was loving. Although, he'd fuss, he would go out of his way to help anyone in need and enjoyed doing so. Thomas also enjoyed good soul food, jazz, sports, and playing the lottery. Thomas was predeceased by his father, Thomas E. Fain, Jr.

Thomas leaves to cherish his love and legacy: mother, Doris Fain; brother, Roger Fain; daughter, Aneesah Fain; sons, Richard Mitchell, Yasin Hart, and Thomas Hart. He is also survived by six grandchildren and leaves a legacy of love to a host of cousins and forever friends.

From the staff of The Little Ones: “Munta will be surely missed by all of the staff, families, and children of The Little Ones Preschool. We know it will be impossible to replace Munta, but his memory will always be a blessing!”

Thomas was truly a gift from God, and we are all so blessed and grateful to have had the opportunity to love him.
