Her Price Far Above Rubies Mary Lois Flowers Mitchell affectionally known as "Honey" and "May Lois" made her transition into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday June 02, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Mary was born August 23, 1945 in Ashford, Alabama to the late Reverend Calvin and Bernice Flowers.               Mary accepted Christ at an early age. In her youth, she was an active member of the Church of God by Faith Inc. in Ashford, Alabama.

Who Can Find a Virtuous Woman? The Bible asks the question, "Who can find a Virtuous Woman?" In 1963, Will Mitchell found one, and on December 11, 1965 he took Mary Lois Flowers to be his wife. To this union God blessed them with seven wonderful children. She encouraged her children in the Lord and the family grew. Family was always important to her. She had a special way of loving others by welcoming so many into her home and heart. Mary was an active member of Jerusalem Baptist Church until she followed her grandfather Reverend James A Flowers who founded Tabernacle Baptist Church of Trenton , New Jersey.  Where she served as Church Clerk, Sunday School Teacher and Missionary.

Mary was educated at Essie R. Grimsley School in Ashford, Alabama. She furthered her education at Mercer County Community College in Trenton, New Jersey; where she received a degree in Early Childhood Education. As a devoted advocate for education, she worked for AmeriCorps, Trenton Board of Education, and Trenton Head Start for over 25 years. For years, she served as the West Ward Committee Woman engaging the community in social issues to include voting.  Mary enjoyed cooking, singing  and having family gatherings. She loved to read her Bible and Harlequin Romance novels. As a hobby, she collected unique salt and pepper shakers. In her role as "Mom-Mom", she encouraged all her grandchildren to be active in sports and to focus on continuing their education.

Her Children Shall Arise and Call Her Blessed Mary was preceded in death by her husband Will Mitchell; parents, Rev. Calvin and Bernice Flowers; her grandparents Rev. James A. Flowers and Lucinda Flowers, Frank and Mattie Lou Smith; her brothers Calvin Flowers Jr.,  David (Dawud Muhammad) and James Lowe;  companion: Arthur Holland.

Her place in life will be solely missed, but her memory will forever be cherished by the many who loved and cared for her. Her children: Yvonne, Will (Cindy) of Willingboro, NJ; Bernice, Seque, Latriece, Frank and Samantha. Goddaughter: Lossie (William) Thornton. Grandchildren: Victor (Lakrisha), Stephen, Imani, Meryet, Jessica McCray, Jalyn, Aswad Fitzgerald, Candice, Khadija, Semei, Tyler, Javor Duncan, Myles, Grace, Gabriel, Faith, Joshua, Brittany Fowler, Brianna Thornton, Jordan and Joshua Wright, Athing D. Mu and Aaron Jones, Jahlil, Najee and Malachi Brown. Great grandchildren: Kenneth, Alexander, Richard, Tony and Mykael. Brothers: Larry Flowers of Ashford, Alabama, Michael Clark of Las Vegas, Nevada,. Sisters: Joanne Clark of Princeton, New Jersey. Uncles: Deacon W.A (Patricia) Flowers, James (Gloria) Smith, Rev. Hilton (Margaret) Flowers Sr. of Georgia. Aunts: Mary Jane (George) Lawton of Akron, Ohio, Audrey Flowers of Jacksonville Florida. Sisters-In-Law: Irene White, Pauline Dunton. Brother-In-Law: James Mitchell. A devoted friend Frankie Boykins of Trenton, New Jersey; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
