Mark "Sharif" Ernest Wilson

Mark "Sharif" Wilson was born on July 15, 1960, in Newark, NJ, to his parents, the late Faith Wilson and Robert Caldwell. Sharif lived in Newark and later relocated to Harlem, NY, and then Jersey City, NJ. On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, Sharif entered into eternal rest and returned to Allah. May Allah accept his good deeds and enter into Janat ul Firdous.

Sharif attended Newark Public Schools where he graduated from Westside Highschool. Sharif was self-employed and a true entrepreneur. In 1996 Sharif married his wife Corinet Carswell in Las Vegas, Nevada, in front of a host of family and friends.

Sharif was a man of style and grace. You would see him dressed in gator shoes, three-piece suits, furs, and minks. Let's not forget the Kango hats. His style was simply unmatched, and his walk could be spotted miles away. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was known as "Big Dog" who served as a mentor, coaching basketball or simply speaking and dropping precious life jewels to young men around him .

Sharif is predeceased by Faith Wilson, Robert Caldwell (parents), Markyah Wilson (daughter), Hope Wilson, Shelia Smith, Valerie Paschall (sisters), Harold Graham, David Gregory, Damon Boyd (brothers), Marilyn Lyons (bonus mom) Elijah Thorpe (father in love), Abdul, and Earl (best friends). He leaves to cherish his memories his mom in love Priscilla Towns, father in love Thadduis Towns, wife Corinet, daughters Precious Carswell and Jatiiah Clemens, son’s Sharif Wilson, Jeff Carswell (Kristina), and Stanley Lyons(Starr) Michael Silva, two granddaughters and four grandsons, his siblings Pete Wilson (Marie), Brenda Herbert, Ronald Wilson (Karen), Johnny Carswell, Elijah Thorpe, Thaddius Towns Jr., Lisa Curtis (Shaun), Renee Pickin (Moe), Michelle Taylor, Kimberly Gooch, and 10 nieces and 12 nephews. He also leaves to cherish his memories of special lifelong friends Valerie Jones, Debra Alexander (Kevin) and Romaine Thomas (godsister), Marquise Works (godson), Saladin Thompson (godson), Karese Kamal (goddaughter). Sharif was a stand-up man, and he was a provider and protector. The family and friends who loved him dearly will profoundly miss his presence.
