Marjorie "Toni" Stewart (November 12, 1934 - April 26, 2025)
Marjorie "Toni" Stewart, born in Durham, North Carolina, to the late John Mason and Pearl McAuley, peacefully passed away on April 26, 2025. She was educated in the Durham public school system before moving to Brooklyn, New York. In Brooklyn, she married John N. Stewart Sr., and later moved to Newark, New Jersey, where she spent much of her life.
Marjorie worked for Tri Maintenance Contractors until her retirement due to disability in 1997. She was known for her strong will, outspokenness, and her willingness to speak her mind. Marjorie’s bold spirit and unwavering honesty made her a unique and unforgettable presence in the lives of everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Nelson Stewart Sr., her siblings: John Albert Mason, Shirley Ann Hart, and Thomas Earl Winstead, as well as her daughters-in-law Sharon Marsh-Hill, Roberta Elaine Ritcherson, and grandson Quinn Mayweather.
Marjorie leaves behind a proud and loving legacy, survived by her children:

Her family continues to grow, with 22 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward her spirit and love.
In addition to her immediate family, Marjorie is also survived by the Hart, Mason, Johnson, and Bailey families. She leaves behind lifelong friends Bertha Evans, Barbara Miller, and Elizabeth Dixon, as well as her special cousin, Emma C. Fowler.
Marjorie will be remembered for her strength, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. She made a lasting impression on all who knew her.
