Derrick Muta Oliver

Derrick L. "Muta" Oliver, born on March 10, 1959, in Newark, NJ, to parents Horace Oliver and Jenny Oliver (Bankston). He died on March 8, 2021.

He grew up with four siblings including himself; brother Horace Oliver, brother Daniel Oliver (deceased) and sister Debra Oliver. He also has four more brothers through his father; Micheale, Devin, Rahmon and Steven. All together Muta has six brothers and one sister.

Muta has one daughter, Demerest Barnhill; one grandson, Yasin; two granddaughters, Anaiyah and Anizjah Barnhill.

Derrick preferred to be called Brother Mutakkabir. This is not a sad moment for Muta because he was silly as hell with a big heart. A great brother to have known, but not to hate. He leaves us with some memories that we will always remember him of cracking some jokes. So, I thank you brother Muta for knowing you and loving you while you were here.
