It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ahmid Yasim Nijee Richardson, lovingly known as “Butta,” a man whose life was defined by love, laughter, and family. Born to Shvette Williams and Charles Richardson in Newark, NJ, Ahmid was a bright light whose joy and goofiness made every moment with him memorable. On November 18, 2024, at the age of 22, Ahmid departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Ahmid was the epitome of what it means to be family-oriented. He always put his loved ones first, ensuring they felt supported and valued no matter the circumstances. Whether helping to organize family gatherings, offering a listening ear, or stepping in during difficult times, Ahmid’s actions consistently reflected his deep commitment to those he cared about. He wasn’t just the glue that held people together; he was the spark that ignited joy in every shared moment. Ahmid’s heart was boundless. His generosity knew no limits, and he always put others’ needs ahead of his own. He gave selflessly, lending a helping hand to anyone in need. His compassion left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him. For Ahmid, family wasn’t limited to blood; his circle included many friends who became family in every sense of the word. Ahmid’s love for life was evident in everything he did. He had an infectious laugh and a playful spirit, often gathering friends and family for games or just to share a good time. He found joy in music, and his favorite rapper, Herb, was the soundtrack to so many of his happiest moments. Whether he was singing along to his favorite songs or cracking jokes to make everyone around him laugh, Ahmid had a way of making the ordinary extraordinary. Ahmid leaves to mourn his late grandmothers, Charlotte McLaurin and Katie Richardson; his loving parents, Shvette Williams Richardson and Charles Richardson; his brother, Akmed Richardson; his beloved uncle and aunt, Jamal Mustafa and Brenda Richardson; and his uncle, Hakim McLaurin. He is also survived by his favorite cousins, Hakia McLaurin and Aliyah Richardson; his five siblings: Ilikah Williams, Ibn Williams, Anyah Richardson, Sameerah Williams, and Tameerah Williams; his brother-in-law, Raheem Pamplin; and his sister-in-law, Shakirah Williams. Ahmid also leaves behind his cherished nieces and nephews: Jaziyah Robinson, A’Zhara- Malaya Richardson, Ziyyad-Amin Richardson, Za’laii-I’Jhay Pamplin, Zaa’Hid Pamplin, Zaa’Hii Pamplin, and Ka’layyah Williams. Additionally, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins (proudly known as RICH GANG), and friends, including his best friends Sadiyyah and GeeGee, will carry his memory in their hearts. Ahmid was a very good kid who loved to goof around and be surrounded by family and friends. His playful spirit, boundless love, and ability to bring people together will be remembered forever. "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." —Helen Keller
