Ibn Akbar Muhammad was known to his family and friends as "Shortie Pimp" and was born in Newark, NJ on January 6th 1979. He was the fourth child of seven children born to Imam Abdul Akbar and Malika Muhammad. Akbar attended Sister Clara Muhammad School in Newark, NJ and later went on to receive his GED.

Akbar's first job started with his dad and their family business selling bean pies, and pastries which included local stands at Penn Station, White Castle and in front of his home. Throughout his High School years Akbar worked for Unity Beef in Newark, NJ. His business smarts later on led him to pursue his rap career, which included starting his own record company and clothing line which is called A.T.M. Boys. He also created the well known slogan "What's Good Shake" which was released in his debut album in 2012. Akbar and his brother El-Amin then went on to open several businesses, one variety store, two grocery stores and is in the process of opening up a soul food restaurant next month.

Akbar's past time was watching his favorite football team the San Francisco 49ers. His favorite place where he liked to hang out and enjoyed the food was RingSide. He was a comedian at heart and he knew how to make everyone laugh. Akbar was known for his stylish ways and a trendsetter. He had a kind heart and loved everyone.
