Al-Jalil Padgett Obituary

Al-Jalil Wahid Padgett , affectionately known as "Stretch Montana" lived his life happily and to the fullest; always with a fun loving spirit and a big wide smile.

After falling ill, Allah knew best to call him home on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Al- Jalil was born in Newark, New Jersey on June 10, 1996. The first of five children. He spent his youth in the city of Newark where he attended Newark Public Schools, graduating from Alexander Middle School. Presently a senior at Malcom X Shabazz High School, graduating with honors Class of 2015, where he was on the Varsity Basketball Team. He also played on the H-Dynasty Basketball Team in Summit, New Jersey with Coach/ Mentor Jason Holmes. As well as Atlantic City Basketball Team. He was an academic scholar and had been accepted into 5 colleges.

Al-Jalil possessed many qualities that all who knew him would instantly identify. He had a great love for his family and friends, his talent for drawing, his fascination with electronics, his love for music, and especially his enthusiasm for basketball. He had a great love for science as well as a book published. Some of the happiest moments were on the basketball court or laughing and joking with his Uncle Naieme while watching Martin.

Although Al-Jalil has departed this life as we know it, he did take his Shahada to profess his commitment to Allah. He left his footprints on the hearts of many who will never be the same. There are those who left footprints on his heart as well, including his predeceased friend Zion.

Al-Jalil leaves to cherish fond memories his beloved mother, Yahni Padgett, his father, Hassan Singleton, his brothers, Al-Muqtadir Padgett, Al-Kareem Padgett, Amari Stephen, Xavier Holmes, Kesaad Alexander and Deshawn Goodwin. His sisters, Aaliyah Padgett, Shauna Padgett and Alexis Means. His beloved grandparents, Mattie and Walter Holiday, Minnie Singleton, Geraldine Goodwin, Mandiro and Glenda Stephen. His favorite uncle, Naieme Padgett and Hakeem Singleton, aunt Miaya Stephen and devoted Godmother Fawn Stephen, and many close friends throughout his childhood.
